Night 1 and 2                      Luxor

Arrival and transfer to the Hotel

Welcome Tea and Felucca ride on the Nile into the sunset. Genuine Egyptian dinner at the family home. Overnight.

Discover Luxor, the famous ancient sites in Luxor-City and on the west bank in Thebes. Learn about today’s life in the village, watch the women baking sun-bread and visit the ‘Tuesday-Market’ on the west bank in Qurna. For those who know how to, a wonderful horse-ride into the desert can be arranged from the stables on the west-bank. A mix of ancient history, culture, village life and leisure. Nowhere else in the world will you have this large number of monuments, sights, places and events to choose from. Together we will find the right amount of activities in a day for everyone. Overnight.

Night 3 and 4              Aswan and
                                   Abu Simbel

After breakfast transfer to Aswan and check-in at the hotel by noon.

We will enjoy this beautiful Jewel of Nubia. The island of Philae, Elephantine Island, the Nubian Museum and ‘Nubia House’ are only a few to mention. Walk through a Nubian village and if there happens to be a Nubian fiest, we will take you there as we ourselves love to be there. Also, a felucca ride into the sunset around the rocky shores of the various little islands will leave you dreaming for a while.

We take an early start with the 5 o’clock convoy through the desert to Abu Simbel. It will take approx. 3.5 – 4 hours one way. We will have around 5 hours at the site of one of the largest monuments in Egypt before joining up for the return-convoy to Aswan.

Overnight at the hotel in Aswan.

Night 5, 6 and 7                   Cairo

From Aswan we journey via Luxor to Cairo by comfortable first class train. Enjoy the landscape along the fertile river Nile and watch the Fellahin working the fields and the women balancing the goods on their heads like they have been doing it for centuries. Check-in at the hotel and overnight.

Breakfast and getting accustomed to the sounds, smells and tastes of the largest city on the continent of Africa

We pick-up the city’s heartbeat and explore it at your pace.

Night 8                          Baharyia

We drive out to the desert and into the first of the oasis. We will visit the ‘Valley of the Mummies’ and enjoy the sunset in the desert. Baharyia is also famous for its dates.

Overnight in a clean and very friendly camp.

Before we drive out to the famous White Desert we visit the ‘English House’ and on the way also have a closer look at ‘Crystal Mountain’ and the Black Desert.

Night 9                    White Desert

Arriving in what some people call a different world. We drive deep into the White Desert to places not usually visited by tourists. We take walks and strolls and prepare the sleeping places before sunset. You are welcome in helping to prepare dinner ;-)

Waking up with the first morning-light, complete silence surrounds us. We are far from the frantic rush of Cairo and the Western civilisation. We can feel the quietness spreading into our own bodies and souls. A simple breakfast Bedu-style, some tea and we are ready for more of the same.

We take only photos and leave only footprints!

Night 10 and 11                  Dakhla

Via the oasis of Farafra we drive directly do Dakhla were we will stay at a Bedu Camp. A camel-trip into the sunset, dinner at the dunes, maybe even a little night-swim in one of the natural wells.

Overnight out between the sand dunes or back at the camp, as you prefer and as the wind permits

The next day is filled with a visit to the old city of El Qasr - a must for all travellers. We will also stop and have a look at the carpet-factory where mostly women are employed. We will take our pick-nick in the fields underneath palm-trees with the kind permission of the local fellahin

Together we will visit the local market and purchase all the food and water necessary for our trip.

Dinner around the camp-fire and overnight at the Bedu-Camp.

Night 12 and 13                  Luxor

After breakfast we continue our journey towards Luxor. We will pass through the oasis of Kharga and visit the Necropolis of El Bagawat. We will arrive in Luxor before sunset. The drive from Dakhla to Luxor will take approx. 6.5 hours.

The two remaining days in Luxor you might want to spend at a slow pace. You have seen and heard a lot by now. Enjoy some quite time, reading, sitting with the people from the village or spending long hours walking around the sugar-cane fields. Or maybe rent a bicycle and roam around the area.

The last night we enjoy another wonderful, genuine Egyptian home-cooked meal.
